Gung Hey Fat Choy!
In celebration of the New Year, I am featuring a Chinese brand called Flower Knows. Chinese brands often have a bad reputation, but there are legit brands with quality products, we just need to know where to look. One such brand is featured here, and I recommend giving them a shot! The most common question I get asked on Pinterest is “where do I buy this?” See the links? I have links. You can click on them, I promise it’s not spyware. I should also be clear that I am not selling these.
The packaging is so beautiful and they’re pretty great quality. The compacts and mirror have some weight to them and so far, nothing has worn off. Them being as pretty as they are, would also make for a nice gift for a makeup lover, or someone who likes the subject of the collection. They have collections featuring Strawberries, Teddy Bears, Angels, and a Chocolate collection. (Need that contour palette!)
The two collections that caught my eye were the Unicorn Collection (of course) and the Circus Collection. It looks like I have missed out on previous Unicorn products because I am seeing compacts I never saw on the website and the makeup brush must have been sold out by the time I decided to order. I ordered during their 6th Anniversary event, with every dollar milestone you could get a free gift. Since they were unicorn themed, I had to take the opportunity! I didn’t want to go too crazy, so I didn’t end up with the gift box or the rug. The rug sounds interesting. How big is this rug? How thick is it? How are they shipping a legit rug? Should I have gotten the rug? Dude, a rug????
For a company that ships from China, I was impressed by the delivery time. I ordered on October 15 and it arrived on the 29th.
Seeing how beat up the shipping box is, I am shocked that everything inside was in-tact! There were so many things to break! A glass, two mirrors and three powders. Nothing broke. Very impressed. I do not believe that this is the gift box as advertised on the site, I think this is just a corrugated cardboard shipping box.
Blushes
These remind me of Sweet Secrets!
Unicorn Collection Blush in Unripe Peach
I have swatches of all three blushes at the end of the blush section. Unripe Peach was the most flattering on my skintone so I chose this shade. Watching videos on YouTube, a lot of the shades appeared very light and chalky and Unripe Peach was the most normal shade. It was explained it is because of the current trend in China. On Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, many of the makeup influencers go for the “douyin look” which is very innocent, doll-like and often very sparkly on the eyes. This photo of all of the blushes together makes me want to get them all!
I have been using this blush, so all I have are these photos to remember the cute imprint by! I don’t have regrets, I think this is a great blush! Hopefully this line won’t be discontinued so I can purchase another one in the future. The quality of the blushes are suitable for my blushing need. I don’t want an ultra-pigmented blush! I want it to look like a natural flush on the first application. For me a lot of blushes can be too dark or pigmented and I have to drown it out with more foundation. This gives me a subtle look that looks natural.
These Circus ombre blushes were too cool to not get! Admittedly I had not touched them until I swatched them for the blog. I had been using Unripe Peach this whole time.
Circus Collection Ombre Blush in Blue Midnight
The blue shade reminds me a lot of a powder I used back in the early 2000’s called Clean and Clear Invisible Shine Control Powder. I might try and use it as a non-sparkly highlighter like I did in 2001. Otherwise, a typical user would just mix it with the pink. (Do what you want! It’s your face!)
Circus Collection Ombre Blush in Orchid Gem
In the swatch photos, the two ombre blushes have the top color and then bottom color swatched. The ones labeled mixed are of course the two shades mixed together.
Unicorn Crystal Lip Gloss in Rose Quartz
Lip colors from Asian brands tend to not have variety in my opinion. I bought Rose Quartz because it was the coolest of the Unicorn shades. This one turned out looking fine on my complexion. The formula is the emollient glossy feeling lip products that I prefer. I’ve been using it often for a color I didn’t think I would like. The formula is so comfortable that I like to use it.
Hand Held Mirrors
Not sure how to review a mirror. It wasn’t cracked and I can see my reflection 10/10.
This blue unicorn mirror was free with purchase during their 6th anniversary event. We had a choice of two colors. I am happy to pick the blue! This mirror may be good to travel with since it’s small and flat. Though I would hate to find it broken since I can’t get it again.
6th Anniversary Unicorn Glass Mug
This iridescent unicorn glass was free with purchase with orders over a certain amount, I want to guess that it was $100. I am completely shocked at how well packed it was and it didn’t break from its journey from China!
Pastel Purple Unicorn Barrette
I wanted my free item so I needed something small to add to the cart. This barrette is $8 and did the trick. I don’t usually wear cutesy barrettes but I might as well get it, maybe I’ll need it!
The Unicorn collection came out in 2021, and being a year late I didn’t get a chance to see all they offered. They had more blushes in a different compact as seen in this Reddit thread. I am bummed that I cannot get Blueberry Midnight, what a great shade of cool pink!
Apparently they have perfumes in the Unicorn Collection. I don’t know about purchasing perfume from overseas. According to the shop it ships to the US. I don’t know if they’re transporting via ship or what. However, I am very picky when it comes to fragrances. I wouldn’t buy scents if I don’t already know what it smells like. Escada is the only brand I will blind buy!
Excuse me, they had whole ass eyeshadow palettes? A pressed powder is also available but at a whopping $54, I feel like the prices on the official Flower Knows site are more fair. A whole other full blush line! How could they do this to me? Please re-release this, I want to buy them all!
There is another brand called Cute Rumor, that I found on TikTok, with unicorn head topped eyeshadow glitters. You are able to get all 5 in a gift box for $50 on TaoBao, but I don’t have any willing people to purchase and mail them to me. But I can buy them for $25 each on Devil Inspired or (Yikes! The price went up to $36!) Aliexpress.
An interesting article about fast beauty. I should feel bad for my consumerism but you know I Need This Unicorn.
