There’s always room for another nude palette in my collection! Especially one with gorgeous sparkly shades!
I am a fan of Huda Beauty’s Palettes. The Desert Dusk palette is my favorite of her brand, I actually woke up and looked forward to using it, “I get to use my Huda Beauty palette!”
This palette comes with mostly mattes (great for everyday and for a makeup artist’s bridal tool kit), 2 glitters, and the new spackle formula which is the super textured looking shimmers. It also comes with a concealer color to help adhere the pigments and glitters to your lids. Huda says in her video that it works with most skin tones. I have my doubts, but it’s really supposed to used as a primer rather than your actual concealer. If it works to shape your brows, that’s great! For me it might not be light enough, but just fine for a base to stick the glitters on.
I could not purchase this, so I cannot do a full review for you today. But I can show you the in-store swatches I did on my arm! Because these were done in public (I didn’t want to make myself at home), I didn’t prime my arm with eye primer like I usually do with arm swatches. For not having a primer, I think these went on well. The only thing is that glitter really isn’t meant to be swatched, so they aren’t going on go on like a pressed powder. They should have some sort of glitter adhesive or primer and be patted on. But glitter is glitter, you don’t really need a swatch for it. My issue with the two glitters is that the colors are too similar. I would have preferred that one of them be a completely different color rather than two variations of reddish-brown. One is more rust and the other burgundy, but maybe a gold or champagne would have been more preferable, just for variety.
The spackle pigments look really cool in the pan but they do not look like glittering rocks or Fool’s Gold on your eye. They go on smoother. So if you wanted the chunky glitter look, I would advise to use Stila Magnificent Metals on your eye instead to get that textured look. If you don’t want your eyelid to look wrinkly, then Huda just did you right!
This palette goes for $65, which is a hefty price. It came out in time for the second half of Sephora’s VIB sale. As of posting this, there are less than six hours to get the discount. I had to put it back on the shelf. I am putting this on my holiday wishlist. If I sell enough merchandise this month, I will buy it myself! I am working hard on new designs in time for Black Friday!
Disclaimer: I am legally required to put this in. I didn’t even get this, so no I didn’t pay for something I didn’t even get. I was not paid to go into the store and not buy something. haha I hate disclaimers! There are no affiliate links for the palette, but there is a link to my own store.
