Hello Kitty is one of those franchises where I’ll jump at the chance to buy the collection. As a little kid, I would peruse the Sanrio rack at The Toyhouse making mental notes of the things I wanted. At the bottom of this post, I have swatches of Colourpop’s first collection with Sanrio, Puroland.
This collection is very affordable and attainable for those whose budget allows. If you were to buy one thing, the eyeshadow palette is only $16! The entire collection was $98, pre-tax. Which isn’t a terrible price for everything you get. They also had smaller bundles so you could omit the stuff you weren’t interested in.

I honestly thought of passing this up to save $20. What insanity that would have been! I haven’t worn these too much becauseI never leave the house, pandemic at all. But if they don’t dry out by the time we are released, I’ll dab it on my lids if I go out.
Big Surprise Lux Lip Gloss Set $27 or $9 each
As you can see, they are very sheer. However I really like the formula and wouldn’t pass up more if they came in colors and finishes I’ll like. It’s almost like Kylie Cosmetic’s High Gloss. It’s thick and feels moisturizing. I like the thickness because it lasts for awhile and I like the feeling of moisture of my lips. Speaking of that…..
Peppermint Cookie Lip Care Kit, $20
This set comes with a lip scrub and a lip mask. Think Laneige Sleeping Lip Mask (which I go through like crazy!) But the formula is a lot thinner and more goopy. But it’s still really moisturizing, but not as long lasting as the Laneige one, which is thicker in viscosity. The lip scrub is also wetter than something like Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Lip Scrub, but they still do the job. The oils leave your lips feeling moisturized, but I still follow up with the lip mask!
They do smell like peppermint sugar cookies. it’s not my favorite but they’re still not bad. The scent is really all personal taste and it does go with the holiday theme. I think they should definitely produce more lip masks in different scents, I’d love a strawberry and a fruit punch one!
Comparison with Stormi palette
So you may have thought, “Haven’t I seen this before?” So I want to show a side-by-side comparison between the two.
It’s been rumored that Colourpop and Kylie Cosmetics are made in the same place. Read this article for more information.
It certainly looks like Hello Kitty was inspired by Stormi. Does it matter? No, they’re not exactly the same. I feel like Kylie actually went and customized every shade for her daughter. I have no idea who chooses the colors for collabs with Colourpop, but Hello Kitty & Friends certainly looks inspired. We usually see trends and many brands coming out with similar color stories at the same time, maybe there is some industry periodical we don’t know about that picks all the hot colors for the year. Did Colourpop copy Kylie? I don’t know. But whatever! It’s fine to me if they did take a color inspiration because I love both palettes! These are the types of colors I like and they tend to end up in my house anyway, so I don’t care. If a 3rd platte from the same lab comes out, it may find it way into my collection.
Even though they look alike, they’re not the same palette. In fact, if you loved the Stormi palette, the Hello Kitty one will compliment it well! Or you can purchase this one instead because the Stormi palette doesn’t look like it’s coming back.
These are the colors I matched up, maybe two of them may be considered dupes. The rest are just in the same color family, like cousins.

As you can see, they aren’t exactly dupes. But they’re similar color stories and will compliment each other. Since you can no longer get the Stormi palette, the Hello Kitty & Friends Snow Much Fun palette is a good replacement.
I do hope the entire collection comes back in-stock because it’s an awesome color collection, and I hope everyone who wants it is able to get it!
Colourpop x Hello Kitty Puroland came out in 2016. I purchased the mini liquid lipstick set and pictured below are the swatches. I have to say, I like the Hello Kitty and Friends collection a whole lot more! Theres not a single shade I woudn’t wear from the current collection.
Pinterest- Almost to 10 million!
I am so excited as of January 14, 2021, I have hit 9.7 million impressions on Pinterest! Which means I may hit 10 million. How crazy is that? I thought I got too lucky and when November and December rolled around it dropped down a million. Then after the holidays, it shot back up! I have no idea how this algorithm works. I assume I have dumb luck. What does this mean? Does it mean I am an influencer or that I make money? No, not at all. I don’t make any money from Pinterest. All of one person purchased something from my store from a pin, which was great and I was really happy.
If I do hit 10 million impressions, I will make a blog post about how I use Pinterest and how I think I have so many impressions.
Here’s a hint: I don’t do what anyone else does when it comes to success. I mean… that’s probably why I don’t make any money. haha! But… 10 million! To all of the viewers- send me a dollar! ????

What’s the difference between impressions and monthly viewers? I have no freakin idea! But I hear that the number of followers doesn’t matter, but come follow me anyway!
I have more exciting stuff coming up for my store! I am making some of my own stuff! I am so overwhelmed with projects and the possibilities, but maybe that how I want to live.
