Sephoria is a yearly event brought to you by Sephora and was held last Sunday, September 18th. They had the first two events (2018 and 2019) in-person but due to obvious reasons, they had to host it online. It is basically videos embedded in a virtual event space, that showcase their newest products with makeup demos from the brands. To sign up is completely free and I’d recommend it if you are interested in the perks. We basically got 500 Beauty Insider Points, an NFT and a coupon with $10 off your purchase.
To earn the 500 BI points, we needed to play games and earn 5 out of the 7 possible tokens. So far it hasn’t shown up in my account, I heard it may take awhile. 500 points could be $10 off if you choose! The NFT had to be claimed and we needed to make an account and claim it in our “wallet” before the event ended. Then we were promised a $10 coupon that would be sent in the coming weeks. The website plays like a Flash site (but it’s not Flash because that went defunct), making it difficult to navigate and comes with a slew of connection problems. I heard that many people had issues claiming their perks because the website was either too slow or couldn’t load. Because there were too many technical issues, a lot of people were unable to claim their NFT. I believe that they will honor it for the people who contact customer service. In-person events are way more fun, but I understand the need to make it virtual. It also makes it more accessible to everyone because not everyone is willing to fly to LA. I cannot argue with FREE either!
My favorite (and probably everyone’s favorite, based on the comments) was Danessa Myricks. I’ve been following her for years and am happy that more people know about her, her artistry and her amazing products. They really are unique. I must get Lightwork IV before it sells out! I also need to do a dedicated blog post about her brand, but I also kinda of want to collect more products to review.
There were two Mystery Boxes for $50 each, that were optional to purchase. Nothing required you to own the products, it’s was just a nice bonus to have! The boxes were called Beauty Besties and Shelfie Standouts. On the Sephoria website, they let us know what brands (and what sizes) were included, but it was a complete mystery as to what products would be included. I considered buying both, but needed to save money so I chose Shelfie Standouts because I liked the idea of full sized Danessa Myricks, Rare Beauty and One/Size. Buying the box was worth it. Two full-sized items more than pays for what you paid for the box!
So here is what was in Shelfie Standouts, I’ll list the prices so you know the value of the box.
Included in Both Boxes:
Partake Birthday Cake Cookies. These are Top 8 Allergen Free, Vegan and Gluten Free.
Maybe they need all those ingredients to actually taste like cookies, this tasted terrible.
Lips Ice Tray– It’s a cute idea, but mine broke! Do not use the twist method of breaking out the ice, the tray just cracked. It was super difficult to get the ice out, even when letting it melt a bit.
Drink Shaker and Cup-
These are plastic so they wont last long, but it’s okay that it’s not glass. Glass has a higher chance of breaking in shipment and that would have been way worse if someone cut themself.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Luminous Modern-Matte Long-Lasting Lipstick in Walk of No Shame. $34
Brownish red, it’s not really something I wear but it’s my first Charlotte Tilbury item after eyeing the brand since it launched. I am going to keep it. The retail price is pretty shocking, no wonder I haven’t purchased anything! Swatches of the color products are in the TikTok video.
GXVE by Gwen Stefani Original Me High-Performance Matte Lipstick in Original Recipe. $26
I bought 80’s Me on my birthday and I really love it! That fuchsia is more my style than a red, but I will keep it. A cool red is more flattering on me than a warmer red. I’m just not a confident red-type of girl.
Danessa Myricks Beauty Color Fix Matte in Chocolate, $18- I was really looking forward to seeing what they would give us. I have never tried Color Fix, and a matte brown is a shade will be useful to everyone and could be used in many ways. Color Fix is perfect for a makeup artist’s kit. It can be used anywhere on the face, for any purpose, and can be mixed with other Color Fix shades. I want every product she makes.
Rare Beauty Perfect Strokes Volumizing Mascara, $20- I had been on a Rare Beauty kick and bought a couple of items on my birthday. I was looking forward to seeing what I’d get in the box. Mascara is pretty universal and everyone can use it… however, that’s not completely true. For me a regular mascara won’t work for me. Regular (meaning non-waterproof) mascaras, uncurl my lashes and re-straighten them. I will try this, but it may end up being a bottom lash mascara for me. But it would be an absolute miracle if this actually held a curl!
Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm, $26- I am not a cleansing balm girl, but this year I have obtained a few. Nothing against them! It’s just that I am not used to using them an I am partial to wipes and the Clarisonic. If this gets rid of waterproof mascara, I’ll officially be converted.
One/Size by Patrick Starr On ‘Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray, $30- I have been wanting to try Patrick’s brand. I heard this setting spray is difficult to get your hands on, so I am happy to have this setting spray. I also see why this shipped ground and not air!
Travel Size-
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, 2 oz, $16- I am surprised that this is considered travel size! This brand came highly recommended by a friend, and it seems right for my dry to normal skin type. This is perfect for the upcoming drier season.
Maison Margiela Replica Matcha Meditation, $32- The scent isn’t my jam. I am more into sweet and fruity fragrances.
Sample Sizes-I wont list the prices because sample sizes should always be free.
Sephora Collection Probiotics Clean Skin Gel Cleanse + Tone- Not much to say other than it’s a tiny cleanser. It goes in my travel bag!
Ellis Brooklyn Myth eau de parum sample- White musk. “The airy beauty of jasmine petals and tiger orchid meets the sexy, undeniable warmth of liquid musks and white cedarwood.” Also not really my taste when it comes to fragrance.
Fable & Mane Holi Roots Hair Oil– I can definitely use this! According to the Sephora website, this is applied to the scalp and not through the lengths. I think the brand name is really cute too!
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare 15% Vitamin C Form & Bright Serum– Vitamin C is welcome on my face! I haven’t had any prior issues with Vitamin C so I hope this won’t be different.
Shani Darden Skincare Retinol Reform– I am going to ty this retinol *after* I attend this upcoming music festival. I had a bad experience with retinol before. I hope this product changes my mind about it. It seems like a product I should use, but I also don’t want my skin to peel off.
CAY SKIN Isle Glow Face Lotion SPF 45– I really like this! I liked this before I knew it was Winnie Harlow’s brand. It is a glowy moisturizer with SPF. I’m going to eventually get this full-sized as well as the lip balm. In the presentation video, Winnie says that the SPF lip balm does not have that nasty taste! Worth a buy if you ask me!
If you’re here in the future, considering buying one of the Sephoria Mystery Boxes, I’d say to go for it! The box more than pays for itself with the amount of products you will get. You’ll be able to try brands and new products you otherwise wouldn’t have chosen yourself. Then you can give the stuff that is not for you, to someone who will appreciate it. It’s just a fun thing to look forward to opening!

Pinterest Shuffles
I had to add this on even though it had nothing to do with Sephoria! Shuffles is the new Polyvore! It’s a collage-making app that connects to your Pinterest and you can make collages (even animated!) using the pins you have on your Pinterest Boards.
Right now, it is invite-only using referral codes and they are hard to come by. I am trying to give it to a friend who actively uses Pinterest and will actually make collages. But it turns out my friends don’t really use it. I think I will end up giving it to one of my 32k followers so I know it’s going to someone who really wants it and will use it! So if you want it, be sure that you are one of those followers!
The pictures can be clicked and will link to the image on your Pinterest board, which should link to the website from where it was pinned. Small businesses and content creators can benefit from this! I can see that this may be a copyright nightmare, but that should be Pinterest’s problem and not mine.
@ineedthisunicorn Finally, I managed to snag a Shuffles by Pinterest invite code! My tip is to check the Pinterest Reddit often! I used to collage a lot as a kid so this was pretty fun.
