Oscar de la Renta, A Retrospective– A special exhibition at the de Young Museum in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. It’s a limited exhibit from March 12- May 30th 2016. So that means there are a couple more weeks to go and see it!
I’m going to be honest here, I know nothing about fashion designers. I know they’re too expensive for me, and that’s about it, so unfortunately I don’t have an informative post for you.
Special exhibitions in museums don’t usually allow photographs. However, there were so many guests taking photos. Like obvious cameras and clicks going off, and the staff didn’t even blink to stop them. I was a little less obvious, but it looks like I could have gotten away with taking more and better photographs, but here are the ones I took. Most of these gowns are ones I personally would want to wear myself. The room with the mohawks was my favorite room of all! I especially love the pink/gold dress. I also loved the two black gowns, the black and white floral and the purple dress. (All pictured below.) The jewelry details were also not to be missed! They were so beautiful in person! Ummm…. I’d like some of my very own dresses… how can I manage to get this for free and legally? I’d also like to attend events were I can wear these. Man….
From right to left, these gowns were worn by Jessica Chastain, Karlie Kloss, Sarah Jessica Parker and Taylor Swift.
While you are at the de Young museum, the view from the Hamon Observation Tower should be on yout to-do list. The tower is in the museum and is admission free.
