This may be an unpopular opinion, but I like neutral palettes, especially ones with metallics. I can never have too many neutrals! If I see an interesting palette for the affordable price of $22, I have to add it to my wishlist, even though I’ve never seen the movie!
This palette has a mix of matte, matte with glitter and super metallic shades. The metallic shades can be flaky and may have fall out when you apply it. Like with the Colour Pop Super Shock shadows, these metallics apply best with your finger. I have long nails so this is very challenging for me. But with a brush, even dampened, it’s just not the same. It will be flaky, dropping some flakes under your eyes, and not go on smooth. But with the oils and warmth of your finger, it will press on and appear smoother.
The Mulan palette also has a good mix of warm and cool tones. That I prefer because, the mix of warm and cool rounds out a look. If it’s all cool, it can look washed out. But we have Strength and Guiding Spirit as our warm matte shades. Loyal, the metallic red-orange with gold is the most unique and my favorite of this palette. I will definitely wear the red shades this fall and for Chinese New Year next February. Like A Girl and Warrior have been nice taupey cool shades to wear on the lid. Strike a Match is what I use for the inner corner highlight, but “particley” is how I’d describe how it looks.
Mulan, the live action film, will premiere September 4th exclusively on Disney Plus for an additional $30. I personally will wait to see if it will be in theaters once they reopen. I cannot bear to pay for another streaming service and pay $30 to watch it on my own couch. I also have never seen the animated film from 1998, but I’ll watch the live action one first so I am not biased already knowing the original. I am hoping that it will at least release at drive-in theaters after the Disney Plus release.
This palette is limited edition, so if you need to have it, I’d buy it now because I am unsure if they will have a restock in the future!
These have been swatched over eyeshadow primer, except for the last few cause I misjudged the spacing!
Disclaimer: I was not sent this product for review. I bought this palette on my own. I was not asked or paid by Disney, nor Colour Pop to write about this products or the film. I don’t have any affiliate codes. I seriously did not see the movie. There are way too many streaming services, I stand by that statement.
