The third part of my Lime Crime lip product series: Diamond Crushers! These are liquid glitter go on top of matte liquid lipsticks. (You can wear it by itself too.) They’re not a gloss, they dry down.
Allergy Warning:
Please be aware if you have skin allergies and have sensitive skin. They have a fragrance, which is often causes allergic reactions to those with sensitive skin. It caused an allergic reaction to a YouTuber/ beauty influencer and inflamed her lips. (And she had lip injections, so it was pretty extreme!) I would go to a store and do a patch test on your arm before purchasing, even if you don’t typically react to fragrances. Never use these around your eyes, sensitive skin or not.
Formula:
They are considered toppers, which is why they are see-through. They go on a tad patchy, but they’re not supposed to be opaque by any means. I would apply these glitter toppers in thin layers so they do not get chunky. If it’s applying patchy, pat it with your finger before it dries down.
Also, be aware that some shades, such a Strip and Black Unicorn will stain.
They have a strawberry fragrance, which is the ingredient that causes irritation and allergic reactions in some people. I personally am not allergic to it. I do love the strawberry fragrance. But some people hate it, maybe because it’s artificial. Scent is a personal thing honestly, if it was watermelon, I would hate it.
The Diamond Crushers should work with all skin tones since they’re not opaque, they are glitter. And if you’re wearing blue glitter on your lips you’re not exactly worried if it compliments your skin tone! You can apply it to the whole lip, or just a dab in the center. You’re meant to have fun with these, so experiment! I would not wear these on a date though, they’re no fun for kissing. (They make your lips super dry + glitter transfer.)
The longevity is a plus because glitter for lips never lasts long because it’s usually in gloss form. The Diamond Crushers are supposed to last all day, but glitter will eventually wear off over time. If you eat, forget it! I would not wear these if you’re planning on eating burritos or sandwiches. They will get on your food when you’re biting into it and it’s so unappetizing to see glitter on your food! If you do wear these out, pack a clear lip oil in your makeup bag to remove your lip color. That oil will provide some moisture relief too!
Because I cannot stand having dry lips, I always put on a lip balm therefore, but it won’t last if you have on a balm, especially if you use a thick one like I do. What I do sometimes is use the Jouer Lip Topper in Funfetti or Sweet Tooth. Those don’t mess up liquid lip products and they feel great. (A review on the Jouer brand will come up next month.)
Overall, I love how they look, hate how they feel!
Colors:
They come in so many fun colors and your options are limitless when you pair them with matte liquid lipsticks! Most of them are duo-chromatic. My favorite is Acid Fairy, a pinky lavender with an aqua flash.
Value:
These retail for $20. Try to get them on sale! I’ve found them on sale at HauteLook.
Ulta just released this surprise for their 21 Days of Beauty. Only today, March 28th 2019, these Diamond Crushers are $10! Get them at 50% off! If you happen to be reading this in the future, you can still look out for a flash sale at HauteLook!
I had swatched the metallic Velvetines for a previous post and decided to show you how the Diamond Crushers layer over the liquid lipstick. Because I am trying to use them all, on colors I already had swatched, I feel like some of these pairings go, and some don’t. But maybe you live for that contrasting look. Play around and find combos that you like!
That concludes my Lime Crime lip series for now! I don’t own any Plushies and have only one Wet Cherry. That gloss is seriously for me since I hate dry lips! I should be collecting Wet Cherry! (Please go on sale!) You can purchase these on LimeCrime.com, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Riley Rose and Ulta.
Disclaimer: This post is not sponsored. I bought every one of these myself. I have referral links to Haute Look and LimeCrime.com, where I get money back if you make a purchase.
