For Stormi’s second birthday, Kylie created a collection inspired by her daughter, adorned with butterflies. And of course everything is mini, just like the birthday girl herself!
The Stormi Collection includes:
Stormi Mini Kyshadow Palette, $28
Mini High Gloss Set, $36
3 Mini Lip Kits in Stormi, Give Me Butterflies and Head In The Clouds, $12 each
Flutter In Love Blush, $18
The Entire Bundle is discounted at $108
What I like about them being mini is that the prices are lower, making it more accessible to those on a budget! The usual 9-pan eyeshadow palettes are $42. That’s a lot of money for just 9 eyeshadows! I’m happy to spend less even if it means there is less product. I have plenty of eyeshadows, I wont run out!
When I first heard about Kylie’s Stormi collection. My first thought was, “She’s pretending to collab with her baby?!”
But okay, okay… she created a collection inspired by the child she loves so much for her 2nd birthday. But I still thought to myself: “I hate that I love this.” It’s adorable, it’s pretty and I love the color story. The packaging is gorgeous and I’d never throw it out! And have you seen the garden party designed by Mindy Weiss? It’s what dreams are made of! I love the packaging for the PR box, it being half a butterfly wing that opens into two. My mom was a real fan of butterflies, I used to buy her butterfly patterned anything.
The size is much smaller than her usual 9-pan palettes, hence mini. And that’s perfectly fine! I don’t need the pans to be big, in fact I’d take this while traveling because I need for my palettes to fit inside my train case and this fits with no problem!
All swatches are used with Urban Decay Primer Potion on NC15:
Love Without Limits (rich berry purple) is my favorite in this palette. Look at how pigmented it is! I love using it to deepen my outer corner, it really pumps up the color and makes it look so rich.
Stormi World (sparkly lavender) is my second favorite and probably the selling point for me buying this palette. A sparkling lavender? Drench it all over my face, please! The matte Baby Girl (matte lavender) matches for when you want the lavender, but where sparkle isn’t wanted.
I have been using Angel on Earth (coral) in the inner corner, like in the promo pictures and it does look really cool. Kylie has definitely been experimenting with color placement in her looks. Remember when she wore magenta in her inner corners? I also like it to blend out the crease color into the highlight color when I am using a warm toned brown instead of the palette’s cool toned ones.
One thing I wish was that Butterfly Babe (sparkly pink with a shot of gold) was a little creamier and more pigmented. It’s a little stiff and the payoff isn’t as great as the lavender counterpart, Stormi World. It’s a beautiful color but when I apply it, I always go for Anastasia in the ABH Amrezy palette to get the color payoff I want.
Forever Thing is a taupey olive-toned brown. It’s not a color I commonly see in palettes. I notice that Kylie likes to pair purples with gold and a cool taupe. She has a bronze and a taupe in her Purple Palette. Normally, I like using purples with a warm based brown to blend out. But using taupe is an interesting change and keeps me from doing the same old look over and over again. You’d be surprised in the rut I have been in, even though I have like a thousand palettes. But I still feel like using a warmer brown, it’s my gut instinct to use it!
For comparison, here is Kylie’s Purple Palette:
I think these two palettes would compliment each other well.
I bought this palette at the same time as the ABH Amrezy palette, so naturally I have been using the together and they go together beautifully! But if you have seen what palettes I buy, they all have a similar color scheme: Neutrals with metallic gold/bronze and purples. That’s what I like. And I seem to buy them all. I can’t help it.
You can purchase Stormi Mini palette at the official Kylie Cosmetics website for $28. I am unsure if Ulta will stock the Stormi collection in the future, but as of writing this, they do not have it.
One collection I am looking forward to is the collab with Kendall. I imagine her collection will have a lot of everyday to glam eyeshadow colors and lipsticks in classic colors (red + nudes), which is appropriate for her. I hope it will include highlighters too, Kendall always has a beautiful glow.
If you were interested in the lavender unicorn background I used in the photos, they are actually new newest product! I turned my illustrations into stickers and had them printed by StickerMule. There’s a “Featured Product” section to the right of the blog, and you can buy a 12-sticker sheet and a holographic die-cut sticker bundle until supplies last. Just remember to use PIZZA15 to save 15%!
If you like the Dalmatian print I have in the background, I also made that! I actually started it with watercolor, turned it into a vector and put it on homewares such as pillows and this table runner. Let’s be real, I want to be a billionaire too. I’m working on it.
