House of Lashes is very popular among the Instagram crowd. The Premium Luxe line is especially attention grabbing with the thick luscious styles. I went and purchased all of them. Today, we will be looking at the Noir Fairy style.
On my face most of the Premium Luxe lashes look super intense. Like almost too much, but that’s because I’m not used to seeing such big lashes on me. On many other people I’ve seen (Beauty Gurus, Instagrammers, etc) they look amazing, and really not too intense. I guess it just depends on the size of your eyes, the size of your face, and how dramatic you tend to wear you makeup in the first place.
I absolutely love the way the Noir Fairies look on others, but I feel like I need to work up to them because they look BOOM POW IN YOUR FACE INTENSE on myself. Like the only place where I can pull it off is in a Las Vegas nightclub.
The Noir Fairy Brown style has the same impact as the black ones. Don’t let them color fool you, it’s still very dark and dramatic because the brown hairs are just the wispy accents, the black hairs are dominant. I feel like even though there are brown hairs, it’s still just as intense. And as a dark haired person with brown eyes, the brown ones work just fine. So you don’t need to have light hair to wear these.
The band is pretty thick which might make it a little harder to mold to your eye when they are brand new. Bend the band back and forth to “warm it up” or wrap it around a makeup brush just before applying. On me, they needed trimming to fit my eye, of course this will vary with different people. Seriously, if you feel like you can’t wear lashes, you might just need to trim the outside (the longer side) to fit your eye. It makes a world of difference when it actually fits! If there is enough, save the part you cut off for layering on the outer corners to add more flair and cattiness to your eyes.
I haven’t tried the mini collection because its been sold out, but I was able to buy the Noir Fairy Lites. They’re not mini, just lighter. I don’t believe the band is smaller, but it’s definitely lighter on my eyes. The band isn’t as thick and dark, and the hairs are more wispy. The triangular shapes in the Noir Fairies are less thick an the hairs a bit more natural looking. The lites are a style I can pull off a lot easier, I’ve worn them out a few times already. They still look very dramatic, a lot more POW than the Featherette style, but I still felt confident enough to wear them out…. like in public. And they’re still pretty dramatic that I feel like they’re perfect for a night out in Vegas. But I’ve also worn them to Target.
Looking at them in person, side by side, I couldn’t tell the difference between the Featherette and Noir Fairy Lites. But in the photos, and on my eyes are is a noticeable difference. The Noir Fairies are more dense and more dramatic.
And if you wanted to know a little more about the other styles in the Premium Luxe collection:
Starlet- SUPER CRAY! I cannot pull this off. They’re huge.
Iconic- Gorgeous! I love how this looks on other people. I’m not used to the intensity on my own eyes. I don’t feel like I have worked up to this yet, I want the mini version.
Pixie Luxe- A great one to start out with since the hairs are super fine. I felt comfortable wearing this in public.
Featherette- After being more comfortable seeing myself in lashes, I feel like I had graduated to this level. I went and more a 3-pack after my first pair got worn. I really love how this looks on me.
Boudoir- Oh look, here’s one I don’t have! I guess I don’t have ‘em all.
The mini collection which has smaller versions of Iconic, Boudoir, Siren and Wispy are great for smaller eyes. I feel like this collection was made for asian eyes (I’m part asian) and these would suit our eye shapes a lot better, not to mention the thinner band is a lot for comfortable for monolids! I can’t wait to try them, but they’ve been sold out for awhile. I have my eye on you Iconic Mini!
Also, House of Lashes just came out with a new Tinkerbell Collection. I understand that it’s all marketing. But who can resist? Plus the cat eye shape of the Just Wing It style speaks to me!
I also have the lash cases, I’m not sure if it needs a review. If you need a case, I like this one because it fits 3 pairs, and has a compartment for lash glue and tweezers.
I realize that photos of me wearing the lashes would be the most helpful, however, I don’t have the best setup for taking photos. Selfies with an iPhone aren’t as great as a camera where you can use appropriate settings, a tripod, and great lighting.
