I started my blog 3/24/16 and my shop 3/24/18. Why is this date significant? It’s my mom’s birthday and I started my business in honor of her. She was a single, disabled mother. We didn’t have much growing up. She wasn’t able to drive or work, but she did volunteer at the local elementary school for 25 years. Her 60th was the last birthday we celebrated together. She passed away 10 years ago.
My mom liked to be as independent as possible, but I often worried about her walking alone by herself. Walking with a cane, she was prone to taking a spill and there might not be anyone to help her up. As vulnerable as she was, she was never physically attacked. However, I have, more than once. I suppose it’s better me than her.
I wanted to start my own business to show that you can come from nothing and end up owning your own biz, doing what you love. My mom was always into crafting and encouraged me to have a career in art. I wanted to do this to make her proud! She would not have been into the makeup part of the blog though!
