I had been waiting for Kylie’s collaboration with Kendall ever since she started her sister collabs! She was the last sister to collaborate with Kylie and I have waiting for the collection created by my favorite Kar-Jenner family member! I know this post is long overdue, here’s the thing: I couldn’t get my hands on it. Seriously, the three times it went on sale, it sold out immediately. I was only able to get the lip products the third time around and the rest (minus the face sticks) at the restock sale on December 10th. I started reviewing and writing around Christmastime so here you’ll see wrapping paper backgrounds.
The Kendall by Kylie Cosmetics Collection features a 15-pan pressed eyeshadow palette, a Lip Blush Lip Kit, a High Gloss, an all-over face gloss, a translucent mattifying “powder” (actually a balm) and three face sticks- a highlighter, blush and contour stick.
Kendall Pressed Eyeshadow Palette $42
Kendall, the laid-back, practical sister, was definitely going to have a lot of matte neutrals. I was looking forward to see what else she would pick. I predicted that she would have neutrals, purple and a chartreuse green. My predictions were right! I knew she would have mostly neutral because that’s what Kendall tends to wear. It’s makes sense for her since she’s not a huge makeup wearer on a daily basis. In her Estee Edit palette, she said that purple was her favorite color so I assumed it would include purple! Kendall had been sporting chartreuse clothing and makeup so that was definitely on the table. Here we have two!
I would have liked to have seen her sport more looks and plug it more. (Not that she needed the publicity, seeing at how fast it sold out!) But just to show us how she’d wear it, and what was in her head when it came to the color story. There were a few photos posted on IG stories, but I wanted to see more. They mostly looked like a wash of one color and I wanted to see looks that were more creative uses of combining more of the colors. We have our neutrals that all fit together, but how can we incorporate the colors together? This beauty had a creative interpretation of the palette and I think it’s a great use of most of the colors to represent the entire palette! It’s worth a watch to see how she did it!
Kendall explained her Estee Edit palette in a video, I would have liked to see her to do the same with this one. Just to hear about her inspiration I think that is what makes a palette more special. I wanted to link her old Estee Edit videos, but I believe they have been deleted as I cannot find them on YouTube anymore.
Will this ever go on sale again? I don’t know. It seemed like it was the last time ever when Kylie Cosmetics released it the third time, but then they had a restock sale in December. Kylie Cosmetics could surprise you. Otherwise, it’s not a super must-have unless you are a huge Kendall fan! It’s not crazy-exciting with colors never seen before. Most of it is dupe-able and half of the palette are neutrals that you might have anyway. I honestly wouldn’t pay more money than retail value on eBay unless you have money to burn and really need to collect it.
The formula- this does get powdery with a lot of kickback, but it’s definitely pigmented enough and blends fine.
The color descriptions in parentheses are from the Kylie Cosmetics website. My personal blurb is after, if I decided to add one.
Model Energy- (matte vanilla) Shockingly, it’s light enough and opaque enough to use on my brow bone. That’s not typical of most palettes. It’s been 2 weeks and I’ve already hit pan on it… that’s not really a good thing. I just don’t want it to run out because its been working for me.
November 3- (metallic peach champagne with gold pinpoints)
Twice The Ice- (metallic icy beige)
I’m Telling Mom- (matte midtone tangerine)
To The Moon and Back- (metallic vibrant green with silver sparkle)
Cup of Tea- (matte medium brown)
You’re Tiny And Cute (matte dusty mauve)
Runs In The Family– (matte vibrant yellow). You’d be surprised at how a canary yellow works great as a blending transition shade. I will try this as a main color sometime.
Thicker Than Water- (matte neon orange) You’d assume this to be red based on the name. This also works as a great blending shade if you need something warm and brighter than I’m Telling Mom.
Here Kenny Kenny- (matte lime green with silver sparkle) This one came chipped, which is fine because it will be the least used color.
Brunettes Do It Best- (matte cool tone brown)
Love You Sister- (matte rose terracotta)
Loyal- (matte warm brown)
Scorpio Energy- (matte cherry pink) It looks almost red, but a muted red.
Name a More Iconic Duo- (matte pastel lilac) This name gets a lot of shade! Whomever you name, this purple is only okay. It’s not the most pigmented. But I have a thousand other palettes, it’s not the end of the world.
Overall, the matte browns and the two metallic neutrals are good dailies. I wouldn’t personally wear the greens, unless it was St Patrick’s Day. I feel like the cherry pink and the purple need shadows from other palettes to compliment them, otherwise they feel random. The yellow and orange are excellent additions, they really brighten up the neutrals as blending colors or colors on their own to pack a punch.
Sister Sister Lip Blush Kit- $26
The color of the lip kit is nothing too exciting. I tried to find a better way to describe this than a warm pinkish medium nude. I used a generator and it suggested: Old Rose or Contessa. It goes well if I do a super bright eyeshadow look.
Sister Sister Lip Blush Kit a rosey mauve. The formula is perfect for those who want a wash of matte color that will last all day! The color is buildable if you’re looking for a bit more! –kyliecosmetics.com
I think Kylie’s lip pencils are the best on the market because they can draw over lip balm. However, this one cannot. I don’t know if the formula is different of it’s the amount of pigments that make them strong. But this one goes on a lot weaker than my other Kylie pencils.
I like that Kendall picked a cream finish instead of the matte. Kylie’s liquid lipsticks are super drying on me, and my lips need a break! The Lip Blush doesn’t dry me out or feel uncomfortable at all. It can get everywhere if you hair gets caught in it, and it can get on your teeth. You can apply it like Kendall does and dab it on with your finger and you’ll have less of a mess. Say No More is also a cream I really need to apply it like that.
A few years ago Kendall stated she goes for a red lipstick when she goes for color, in fact, she did one with Estee Lauder. However, I’m glad she didn’t do a red because I don’t wear it. Theres nothing wrong with it, it’s for people with confidence, which is not me. I’m not a huge neutral lip girl either, but I’ve been wearing the Sister Sister lip blush, and honestly, I am not hating it! I have been doing a lot of purple eyeshadow looks (have you see how many purple palettes I own?!) and the neutral lip goes well with it.
Can I Borrow That? High Gloss $16
The limited edition Kendall x Kylie Collection. A perfect balance of extreme shine without the tack, and a cushion-y soft finish/ Oversized doe-foot applicator cradles lips on application creating a perfectly plump pout. –kyliecosmetics.com
I love the High Gloss! I want to pick up more because I love this thick formula. If you hate how gloss feels, and how your hair gets stuck in it, this is maybe not for you. But I love a thick moisturizing gloss that stays on, it keeps my lips hydrated.
The gloss is a sheer berry and is pinker than the Sister Sister kit. I really want to try Sweet High Gloss, which is a sparkly pink!
Can I Borrow That? was either the least popular product in the collection, or they made a lot more of them than anything else because it was the last product to sell out. It’s a shame because it’s actually good and my favorite product in this collection. Yeah, it doesn’t stand out, but I like the formula enough to want to buy more.
Face Stick Trio
I was unable to get the face sticks. However, we can still buy Spotlight highlighter because it seems to be in the permanent collection. It just will have the pink Kylie packaging instead of the white Kendall one. I may pick it up when it comes back in stock.
It’s okay that I couldn’t get the trio since I am unsure of the blush would have worked on me and the contour color looked like it wouldn’t have been for me. I think Better Half would be a great blush for me and either the Bronze Light or Bronze Light Medium may work. (I’d have to try them on!)
Translucent Blotting “Powder” $24
I suspected the Powder would have been like Benefit’s Dr Feelgood. (I swear it’s a balm primer, not something that belongs in Adam and Eve!) I used it 20 years ago, so I don’t remember what a fresh one feels like so I can’t actually compare the two accurately. (You can still buy it today, but I just don’t need it.)
We all know from the reviews that it’s not a powder, but I was still surprised at the texture, when unused it actually feels like it’s plastic. But it’s a balm, just like Dr Feelgood. I would use this under foundation and dab it on lightly. Never rub it in or cake it on, it will pill off. I have applied this over foundation (usually because I’d forget to apply it) and it worked fine.
As odd as it is, it works. I don’t have oily skin like I used to, but I have used this on my nose and chin and it definitely mattifies and camouflages the pores on my nose. But it may be most useful to those with oily skin and those with more visible pores.
I don’t know why they’re calling it a powder instead of a mattifying balm. It just caused a lot of confusion and swayed everyone to not like it or give it a chance.
My Dr Feelgood tin is over 20 years old and the tin is rusty. Back in the day, I had oily skin and I used this product and re-purchased it a lot!
Everything Everywhere Gloss $18
The limited edition Kendall x Kylie Collection. A versatile shimmering face gloss that creates a high shine, glass-like effect. Intensify any makeup look by applying product over makeup on eyelids, cheeks and lips for an off the runway look. Non-tacky, slick gel topper with a dewy, hydrated finish.
Everything Everywhere gloss is a sheer gel gloss with shimmering copper, hot pink, and rose gold pearls –kyliecosmetics.com
I am using this as a lip balm. It works excellently as a lip balm!
Face gloss is used in editorial makeup looks, on the face on the lids, but in an everyday real world application… you’re going to have creasy, sticky lids and hair stuck to your face.
Glitter lip balm. That’s how I use it.
With the Estée Edit Palette
The Estée Edit Palette came out in 2016. I bought this palette when it was on clearance. If you’d like to read more about it, check out this articles from 2016, Hello Giggles and with Refinery 29. The video that is supposed to be on Refinery 29’s page is down. It seems a little off to me that the videos were taken down. Also, blacklight shades never took off!
The silver and gold shades are supposed to glow under a blacklight. The other six pans are duos. It’ not super amazing. The eyeshadows are a stiffer formula, but the matte dark brown and black are very deep and useful.
Overall I am really happy to have these. I have not only been waiting for Kendall’s collab, but I wasn’t able to purchase this collection for so long!
Stay tuned! I have a Hello Kitty and Friends by Colourpop post as well as a KKW Beauty Opalescent post coming right up!
